How to PUT YOU 1ST and feel okay about it!

Do you think mothers who put themselves first are Sane Or Selfish?

I think to "be sane" you have to "be selfish!"  You may have heard put the oxygen mask on yourself first before you help others?  What person can keep pouring from an empty cup?  I believe “a happy mom is a good mom.”  So if you’re happier being a stay home, do it.  If you are happier working, do it.  

The puts-herself-first thing can vary, obviously. If children are sitting there hungry and a mom doesn’t take care of her children whatsoever, that’s an entirely different matter.  If a mom is like, “Here’s a yummy dinner and a fun babysitter to watch you while your father and I actually catch up," that’s different. 

Some moms ask, "How can you take time for yourself, when there is NO TIME."  Here are my solutions to that: 

  • Prepare ahead of time to coordinate babysitters, or help to assist.
  • Get your kids following a routine that works for you and them.  
  • Put your foot down when you need to.  "Assertive" mom is better than a "Passive" or "Aggressive" mom. 
  • Stay consistent with yourself so that everyone else takes you serious.
