5 Ways You Can Overcome Your Sugar Addiction

I am going to ask you a simple question today. Are you one of those people that are literally trying everything you can to stop your sugar cravings? You have been doing everything you can to resist ā€“ however, you simply are not able to finish off a meal without topping it off with something sweet.

You are unable to stop you sugar cravings from taking over and you give in to your temptations.

Itā€™s nothing to be embarrassed about. I was once a sugar addict too and I simply could not resist eating something sweet after every meal. I mean, I had plenty to eat and I would be full, but I would always have room for a dessert and I know that was why my waist wasn't shrinking.Ā 

However, the good news is that this was a version of me that is in the past now. I am not proud of it but I am glad that I have managed to stop my sugar cravings and overcome my addiction.Ā Ā If can do it ā€“ so can you.Ā  All you have to do is remember these 4 things:

  • Find outWHYĀ you're craving certain things (most likely is a nutrient that you are missing)
  • REPLACEvs RestrictĀ your cravings to create healthier habits (and a happier you)
  • REDUCE slowlyĀ to train your body to get sensitive to sugar (yes this does work)Ā 
  • BeKIND to yourself when you mess up, the key is in "Progression over Perfection"Ā 

WHY

They say, sugar cravings are extremely common, especially among women.Ā  WHAT!Ā  Why is that?Ā Ā So researching more about women & cravings, I've found that cravings are coming from a lack of nutrient because women's bodies are constantly doing so much (pregnant, periods, menopause) and during these times, 80% of our nutrients all month long is being used up in these hormonal stages.Ā 

So instead of having hubby run to the store to buy you that certain "have-to-have-sugar-craving" instead find your "cravings solution" and get closer to your fitness goals.

REPLACE vs RestrictĀ 

Okay lets be honest, all the fad diets are starting to irritate me, seriously though!Ā  All this time trying to re-wiring every women's mind again is getting very time consuming.Ā  These "fad diets" make you trust them with all their hype, quick fixes, and latest research baloney but I really see through their lies and you will too!Ā Ā You don't need to be Sugar Free, Carb Free, Shake this, Pills that!Ā Ā 

Instead just focus on removing sugar slowly out of your diet by replacing with a better option.Ā  Add more healthy protein and fats into your snacks.Ā  (See picture --->)Ā 

REDUCE Slowly

Our bodies cravings for sugar depends upon the food choices we make. And the food industry has made it very hard for us to stop our sugar cravings because financially for them they prefer to keep us addicted.Ā  Ā Our bodies have been trained to expect and crave more sugar, we can train it to crave it less. Itā€™s a pretty straight forward approach, once you realize that you have to do this to stop your sugar cravings.

We simply have to start eating or consuming food items that has less sugar. The idea is to train your body in a way that it expects less sugary items in your diet.Ā  Examples: Start placing less sugar in your coffee, limit your soda intake, etc.Ā 

Be KIND to yourself

We change faster in self Love rather than self sabotage.Ā  Will you mess up, relapse, lose control?Ā 
YES, and that's okay!Ā 
#1Ā you're human and need to let go of perfectionism, think progression instead.
#2 your body doesn't instantly change after 1 meal, but rather how your week went.Ā  So get back on the healthy wagon and you're good to go!Ā
